New Report Fields make your Donor Thank-You Notes More Effective

The two new fields are the first and last name of the fundraiser a donor have donated to. We have done this after a request from one of our customers. This will help you craft more effective thank-you messages to your donors.

The charity who requested this, does what many of our customers do; they send a thank-you message to the donor. This is something that we strongly recommend all our customers to do, that thank you message is the first step towards building a lasting relationship with the new donor, that hopefully results in a new long lasting relation and loyal donor.

Well, but what are they using the two new fields to? Well they want to personalize that message as much as possible. Most donors through BetterNow make their donation on request from a close trusted personal contact. That request serves as a recommendation for the charity, and is maybe the strongest request for a donation any potential donor can receive. The donation is thus made in that context, and you of course want to remind the donor of this.

So, with this new addition to the reporting, it is now easy for you as a charity to do this. You can send out a thank-you note with a few clever merge fields, for example: “Thank you for your donation of XX to [firstname] [lastname]’s fundraiser”

By reminding them of the context, and thereby the personal recommendation, you increase the chance of them becoming a new recurrent donor.
