European charities have been left with badly designed solutions for multilingual peer-to-peer fundraising. But this is of course what happens when the software provider is American or British. This is why we have just released new translation features for our peer-to-peer fundraising software. BetterNow already support a multitude of languages, and have many more in the pipeline. Therefore we already have partners in over 12 countries, many with the need for a multilingual solution for peer-to-peer fundraising.
Until now, the contents created by charities have only been possible to have in one language. This could e.g. be project descriptions and names, charity description and the suggested text for fundraising pages. This have now changed, and all charity profiles and project pages can be translated into the languages we support. A high level of trust is crucial for fundraising campaigns to work. Arriving at a site in a foreign language removes trust faster than light.
Even though you mainly recruit fundraisers in your locale language and region, this don't mean that the donors will all speak your own locale language. The person completinga bike challenge for you might have lived four years abroad. She/he will have many foreign friends, many of those will not necessarily read your main language. Give them the opportunity to read about your cause in a language they read.
If your charity resides in say Switzerland or Belgium, you will need the support for multiple languages to communicate with everyone. It is not even an option for you not to support multiple languages. Maybe share your best practise for localisation of fundraising solution in the comments below?
