The short and easy recipe for setting up an in-memory P2P fundraising program.
A how-to for your supporters to fundraise and donate their birthday presents, while still socialising around their celebratory events during the CoVID-19 outbreak.
For many fundraising is an inherently social thing. We run, bike, share our coffee and meet up for sports and other social events. With the CoVID-19 outbreak many of our usual ways of life are simply no longer possible.
Charities do though still need funding. In many cases, more than ever. Certain patient groups such as those with lung diseases are severely impacted, these need more help than else. Mental health is more important than ever as many face long periods of isolation. Many companies have to lay off workers and schools close, all impacting vulnerable and lower income households.
We want to help charities fill the gaps that abandoned fundraising programs leave. The below is meant as a way you can do this, and helping your supporters solve one of their small issues while in isolation.
Supporters can relatively easily arrange a video call for their friends and family, create a fundraising page for you and end up with a birthday that hopefully ends being remembered in a good way, as the year they made a positive impact during a time of distress.
Here are the few quick steps your supporters can take to arrange a virtual birthday.
First start a fundraiser. This lets your friends and family donate instead of giving you physical presents. Your impact will live on much longer than any new piece of clothing or new gadget ever will.
You can use the zoom.us website to create free video calls (up to 40 min. long) for up to 100 participants. You control who joins to celebrate your birthday together with you. Simply sign up (it's free) and schedule a call on your birthday. Alternatively you can live stream your birthday on Facebook.
When you have scheduled your video call, send out the link for your virtual birthday party together with the link to your fundraiser. Happy birthday!
We have prepared the above as an infographic-style image that you can share with your supporters on social media. It explains how to get started. In case you want a link to an editable file, so you can add your logo, change colors and font and add a link to your fundraising site - send us a message or leave a comment.
