Teams fit some P2P campaigns brilliantly and add friction to others. A decision guide: when team fundraising earns its keep, when to skip it, and how to set it up.

Truth be, this isn't completely new, we have been able to create offline donations behind the scenes for a long time. But until now, charities have filled out a form, send it to us, and then we have done it. With this update this functionality will be an integrated part of our offering and available through the dashboard.
USER CASES
Cash donations
We have had charities that have added every single donation from a national collection day to the given fundraiser own online fundraising page, letting them show both what they collected walking from door to door, and what they collected online. But we have also seen it used for cash donations from the day of a running event or donations to a birthday party.
Huge, amazing donations
Companies and high wealth individuals often give very large donations (yes, filthy rich people are way more generous than you think). The largest donation ever made on BetterNow was on 246.000 DKK or over 35.000 €. It was made with a credit card. There are several things here that doesn’t make sense. First of all the credit card fee is just insane, this should have been a bank transfer. Secondly, we don’t want to take our usual fee on such a donation.
BetterNow want to make the world more generous, we do this by enabling anyone to collect money from friends and family, donations that in most cases wouldn’t been given else. This is also our business. Taking a fee on very large donation that would have been given anyway is not our business. Large donations of this size should be given directly to charity through a bank transfer, who then create an offline donation.
Showing donations from other platforms
We have quite a few customers who switch from another platform/system/supplier to either the BetterNow platform or one of our branded offerings. Most often they just let the existing fundraisers run out and then new start up on BetterNow. But some fundraisers collect donations over many years, and need to be transferred to BetterNow. In these cases we can move over old donations by creating an offline donation. In case you need a substantial number of donations to be transferred, let us know and we will help you out.
Un-supported payment methods
In a perfect world we want to embrace every single payment method out there. Reality is that the world isn’t perfect. Sometimes the payment method doesn’t support the level of technical integration we require or maybe they are just to expensive for the majority of our partners and we won’t enable them.
So if you badly need a payment type, and we can’t deliver, this is a second best option. We suggest that you at the end of the campaign simply add whatever is collected through the alternative payment methods by creating offline donations.
Why can’t the fundraisers create offline donations themselves?
Because we want to guarantee that every single donation shown on BetterNow is an actual donation. By only letting the charities create the we are sure they have actually been received by the charities.
So, we hope you will like this functionality, and that you will create many new offline donations.
